BAD APPLES & ETHICAL LEADERSHIP

“When leaders fail to embody their ethical values and principles in every area, a consequence is that employees who see the bad apples do nothing. The rot sets in, structures start to decay, and systems begin to fail.”

In my latest piece for the FCPA Blog, I reflect on the use of the term “bad apple’ or ‘a few bad apples’, which has been used a lot recently. I talk about the importance of speaking up, how leaders can empower their employees to be bold and brave and conclude with my three ‘Rs’ of ethical leadership in action:

✅ React;

✅ Respond; AND

✅ Remediate.
